DeKalb County Jail Roster Overview
The official DeKalb County Sheriff's Office inmate search is the main public source for current and recently released DeKalb County Jail inmates. The sheriff page describes booking information, charges, and bond details for people held at the jail in Auburn. The roster is free, public, and does not require registration. It is best for local custody after arrest, not for sentenced state-prison custody or federal detention.
The roster is backed by the sheriff's public search API. During research, the API returned 95 total records and fields for booking number, inmate ID, name, date of birth, age, sex, race, height, weight, booking date, status, facility, housing, arresting agency, charges, bond, and mugshot URL. Results can lag behind the actual booking or release, so the jail phone at (260) 925-3365 Ext. 2 remains the current-status fallback.
The official DeKalb County Jail page identifies the jail as the local facility for inmate services, visitation, bail, commissary, medical care, programs, PREA reporting, victim notification, transport, and the inmate search.
The jail page is the local source that ties the roster to the facility and its custody services.
How to Use the DeKalb County Inmate Roster
A successful DeKalb County inmate records search starts with the public sheriff roster. A last name is often enough, but a booking number can narrow the result when the name is common. The advanced filters are useful when the booking date is known or when recent bookings need to be separated from older recently released records.
- Open the DeKalb County inmate search.
- Enter a first name, last name, or booking number in the main search field.
- Open advanced filters if a booking date range or exact booking number is known.
- Sort by first name, last name, or booking date, then use the pagination controls if needed.
- Select the inmate details link to review charges, bond, housing, status, and booking-photo information.
- Call the jail or use the records division if the result is missing, delayed, or unclear.
DeKalb County Roster Search Fields
The search page is designed around a primary name or booking-number search, plus advanced filters. Research also found API support for status mapping and sorting, though the visible user page should be described by the controls seen in the public interface.

What DeKalb County Inmate Profiles Show
DeKalb County inmate records are custody records, not complete court files. The profile inventory shows identity, booking, custody, bond, and charge fields. It may include a mugshot URL, but it does not show the full police report, full court filing, home address, phone number, Social Security number, or final case disposition. Filed charges and case outcomes are checked through Indiana MyCase and the DeKalb Clerk of Courts.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Booking Number | Local booking identifier used by the jail and inmate-search detail link. |
| Name and Demographics | First, middle, and last name, DOB, age, sex, race, height, and weight. |
| Booking Date and Status | Booking time and custody status, such as Booked or in-custody mapping. |
| Facility and Housing | Facility field of DeKalb County Jail and housing-unit code when shown. |

Find County, State, and Federal Inmates
Use custody level to pick the right inmate-records channel. DeKalb County Jail covers people in local custody before trial, while serving short local sentences, or waiting for transfer. The Indiana Department of Correction locator covers sentenced state-prison custody. The BOP inmate locator covers sentenced federal prisoners. The ICE locator covers immigration detention, and Indiana SAVIN/VINELink provides custody notifications.
| Custody | Where to Look | What It Covers |
|---|---|---|
| Pretrial or local sentence | DeKalb sheriff roster | Current and recently released county-jail custody. |
| State prison sentence | IDOC incarcerated locator | Sentenced people after transfer to a state facility. |
| Federal sentence | BOP inmate locator | Federal sentenced prisoners, not ordinary county bookings. |
| Immigration custody | ICE detainee locator | Immigration custody separate from the county roster. |
| Release alerts | Indiana SAVIN or VINELink | Custody status and victim-notification registration. |
DeKalb County Jail Facilities
DeKalb County has one ordinary public jail roster facility and one mapped community-corrections work-release program. The jail address and phone are used for custody status, bail, visitation, commissary, and records routing. The work-release program is tied to court-approved supervision and does not function as a general jail search site.

DeKalb County Booking Process
The DeKalb sheriff bail page states that arrestees are transported to the DeKalb County Jail for booking and held for the alleged crime unless bail is authorized by the court and paid. Local intake facts show an arrest or warrant service, transport to the jail, booking, identity collection, booking photo, demographic record, medical screening, PREA education, classification, and housing assignment. The roster then displays booking information after a brief delay.
Medical screening is part of the process. The sheriff medical page says all inmates receive a screening upon booking to assess immediate needs and continuity of care. The PREA page says all inmates receive intake education about zero tolerance, prevention, reporting, and support services. Court transport follows when a scheduled appearance is required. Formal court records after the booking are handled through the prosecutor, clerk, and MyCase, not the jail roster.
DeKalb County Visitation Rules
DeKalb County Jail visitation is video-only. The sheriff visitation page says no in-person contact visits are available, and the ICSolutions / The Visitor page describes registration, onsite video terminals, offsite video from a Windows computer or mobile device, and the ICS Mobile app. Visitors should check in before the scheduled visit, bring valid ID for lobby access, and avoid bringing personal items into visitation areas.
| Visit Type | Access | Rules |
|---|---|---|
| Video visitation | Sheriff visitation page and ICSolutions | Video only, scheduled in advance, no contact visits. |
| Onsite video | Facility video terminals | Register and schedule through ICSolutions / The Visitor. |
| Offsite video | Windows, Android, or iOS device | Use the ICS Mobile option or supported device after registration. |
| Attorney or counsel visits | Confirm with jail | The jail page notes access to loved ones and counsel, but professional rules were not separately detailed. |
The ICSolutions DeKalb County Jail page shows the vendor side of video-visit registration and device access.
The vendor page supports the sheriff's statement that visits are handled by video rather than in-person contact visits.
